That’s The Way I Like It (Part 4)

Don’t blame it on the sunshine

Now you’re hip to the groove and diggin’ it! Ok, ok, ok, getting down with the funk. Time to check out the lead part dudes.

This takes two forms. The chorus and the verse. Basically the bit that goes before the A-ha, Aha’s and over the chord accompaniment we learned in part 3. Ok, let’s keep on truckin’

Don’t blame it on the moonlight

Far out. Just one line here; no harmony. D means draw (breath in). B means blow (breath out). Numbers shown are for a 4 hole harmonica (for ten holes replace 1, 2, 3, 4 with 4, 5, 6, 7). Let’s start with  the chorus. You’ll need to play this twice.

That’s the way 2D   1D..1D

I like it 1D   3B   2D

That’s the way 2D   1D..1D

I like it 3B   2D   1D

Don’t blame it on the good time

Right on! Now for the verse. Once again, you’ll need to play this twice each time.

2D   2D..2D

2D..2D   1D   1D..1D

1D..1D   2D   2D..2D

2D   2D   3B

Blame it on the boogie!

Peachy keen, fine and dandy. Now it’s time to figure out who wants to play which part. Go back through this series and see what you think.

Some of you will find the rhythm parts more comfortable. Some of you will feel confident enough to play the lead parts. Take turns and have fun.

That’s totally top tooting – take a bow! Now practice and show your friends, family and grown ups what you can do.
